All About Matte

Recently I feel like people have been all about the dewy-glowy look. If you take a look at the highlight craze, like Becca and The Balm everyone loves to load on the highlight. But maybe because I have oily skin, I love a matte look and a drop of highlight. I've also been loving the matte look on the lips and the eyes! While the dewy face look is popular, the matte liquid lipsticks have also been on trend.

This post is a little different from what I normally. I guess this is a mix of a ramble and some recent favorite products. I want to talk about my favorite matte eyeshadows, mattifying powders, matte blushes, and matte lips.

Let's get into it!

Starting off with the eyes, I have been loving the Lorac Pro Matte eyeshadow palette. The regular pro palettes are something I never bought, but I've always been intrigued by Lorac's shadows when I've swatched them in store. These are super pigmented and blend like a dream! I've been using this almost everyday for a super quick basic eye.

Another eye palette I've been loving is the Tartelette. This was my first matte eyeshadow palette and it's still a favorite! I've been using it less recently, but this is great because it has almost twice the amount of shadows than the Lorac one. It has been different tones and shades that I love using this with other shadows to create different look. The shadows in this are not as pigmented as the Lorac, but they are super soft and are very easy to blend.

For the face, the Rimmel Stay Matte powder has been a long time favorite. It's like $3 from the drugstore and it's the perfect powder that (obviously) keeps me matte all day! I've probably gone through three of these because it's not powdery or cakey over makeup.

For blush, I looooove my Benefit Boxed Blush in Dallas. This is a newer product for me but I've been using it every day. It's just perfect. It's a rosy-bronzy shade that does the job of a blush and a bronzer. Love this for a matte look!

For lips, I've been all about the matte liquid lipsticks. To be honest, I'm not a lip product person but when I want to dress up and have a long lasting lip, I go for these. My favorite is the Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lip in Midi. Gorgeous shade! I have pale skin so I find some nudes and pinks are too orange or wash me out. This is just the perfect pink! It's very matte and dries completely so I know it can literally last all day. I've also recently picked up the Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme in Adore. I find this to be very similar to the Colour Pop one but the shade is a little less pink.

  1. I agree with you completely! My skin is SUPER oily, so I always go for the matte look! I could never pull off the dewy look, as much as I'd like to! Great products, I tried the Rimmel Stay Matte powder, it was great - think I'll need to repurchase :) <3

  2. Love all your matte choices, I still haven't gotten the tartelette palette yet though. My favorite matte product would have to be the Naked Basics palette.

  6. I have such dry skin that matte products just make me look dull a lot of the time! Totally love the Stay Matte powder for setting though, and I definitely enjoy a matte lip (the Milani is a lovely shade!)

  10. I love matte lips, however I can't really pull of matte lipsticks on my dry lips so I tend to go for matte creams like the Milani offering you picked up. The manhattan lip creams are my favourite :)

  11. I love the matte trend- my skin tends to be oily by itself, so if I put something that leaves shine or is dewy, I would look like a hot sweaty mess.
My favourite matte items are the L'Oreal Infallible 24HR-Matt foundation, liquid lipsticks (like the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Velvets) in general and the same goes to matte lipsticks (like the Wet n Wild Mega Last ones or the Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils).
Nice post. Have a good day! xx

  12. I really like the Revlon Matte Balms. Frosty shades never looked good on me, and the Matte Balms offer great colors and a non-drying matte finish.
