Review | Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation

Finding an everyday foundation can be really difficult, especially from the drugstore. Honestly, most of my face products are from the drugstore. This can be kind of risky because all I have to rely on are reviews online. But because of the price point I take the risk and purchase foundations that really intrigue me.

This foundation, the Maybelline Better Skin Foundation, was one of those foundations that got mixed reviews. I watched some of my favorite YouTubers and beauty bloggers talk about this product. Some hated it and others loved it. What made me want to try this was that it seemed very natural, light weight and worked for oily skin.

But this was a total impulse buy! I purchased this because at Target I saw they came out with this new light shade in 10- Porcelain and I knew it would be a perfect shade match- and I was right! It's matched perfectly and I don't find it oxidizes during the day.

The whole idea behind this foundation is that the more you wear it, the better your skin looks. I haven't been wearing it for that long- a few times for the past few weeks- so I can't attest to that claim. But, what I can tell you, is that I love the way this looks on my skin.

Let's start with the packaging- it's perfect! It has a pump and it's in a nice sleek glass bottle. No complaints there!

Now for the texture, it has kind of a mouse-y texture. When you pump it out it doesn't run down your hand and it easily smoothes on to the skin. I use one pump all over my face and I feel that's enough for everyday. The only, and best way, I apply this foundation is with my beauty blender and I find it gives me the perfect look.

For the coverage, I would say it's light to medium. The one pump is perfect for cover up my redness, but some blemishes are still slightly visible. On those areas I'll either add more foundation or use a concealer. The finish is also a demi-matte. I have oily skin and I don't find this to make me look greasy or very shiny, at first.

The wear is pretty average for an everyday foundation. I find this lasts a good 8 hours on me and I only need to touch up maybe once in the middle of the day depending what I'm doing.

So why do I really love this foundation? The gist: It feels very light and it looks very natural on the skin. This is a foundation I know I can apply in the morning and get me through a day with just the amount of coverage I need.

  1. Ooh, I love Maybelline! I haven't tried this one yet because I just got a new one from Almay that I really like. I tend to have dry/combination skin so I'm not sure how well it would work for me, but it sounds like this Maybelline one is working well for you! :)

    1. It is! And I definitely think this could work for combo skin, I don't find it's very mattifying- it's a good balance.

  6. I really ought to give this a try. I tend to turn to high end bases, but I do need to give some highstreet offerings a try x

  7. I haven't tried this yet, I worry buying foundations but since you said its light I may purchase it. I always worry I will end up orange or too dark with my foundation lol.

    1. I was also very torn because I saw so many mixed reviews. But I have the foundation and the concealer, and I love them together or alone.
