The Perfect Combo? | Anastasia Illuminator in Starlight and A23 Brush

Anastasia Illuminator in Starlight and A23 Brush
When Black Friday comes around every year I stalk all my favorite beauty websites for amazing deals. To be honest, I haven't tried much from Anastasia but back in November they had a deal to get their new highlighters at a discount and receive their brush for free. So I picked up their Illuminator in Starlight and the A23 brush. Who really needs more highlighters? I definitely didn't! But I snagged the deal and now I would love to share my thoughts!

The Highlighter:
I specifically picked up the shade Starlight because it is described as a "white gold" which is a very different shade in my collection. The formula of the powder is very soft, and I found it applied beautifully to the skin. this is definitely not a sheer highlight, so I only use a dab of it on a brush to get a subtle look. I don't find it to be too glittery or look too shimmery on the skin.

The pattern is also beautiful! I'm not sure if it affects how the product adheres to the brush, but it's definitely unique. I really love this highlight because of the white tone. I also think this will work great for almost any skin tone!

The Brush:
My thoughts on the brush are a little different. The A23 is definitely a great brush, but it didn't wow me. It's soft, but definitely not the softest brush I've ever used. The shape is very interesting- since I normally used a tapered brush for highlighting. It's a pinched brush, that is fluffier at the top. This brush definitely allows for a sheer application, and I find it distributes the product evenly on the skin.

Overall:
I think the Anastasia's Illuminator in Starlight is a HIT! I would love to try more shades! It is soft, blendable, and looks gorgeous on the skin. However, the A23 brush is great, but not needed. I am happy I was able to try it. But there are many other highlight brushes I love more, like the Morphe M501 or the Real Techniques Setting Brush..

I tried to capture the beautiful sheen and glow this gives when it hits different lights.
What are your thoughts on the Anastasia Illuminators + A23 brush?

  3. Can you believe that I didn't even know that Anastasia had highlighters? I actually thought they only had brow products, I'm a fan of their brow powder duo and use it religiously! I'm currently using the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle, I really like it, but this white pearly shade looks amazing! It just looks so lovely that I would really like to try it out! Great read lovely! I'm really liking you blog <3

  6. Not enthused by the brush but the highlight looks so pretty, I can't get enough of highlighters at the moment, completely in LOVE with the loose powder guy from Rosie Huntington Whiteley, probably better than most high end highlights I've tried!

  16. The highlighter looks so gorgeous - you had me at "white gold". And I'm really getting into highlighters lately, so it's a bummer I missed the great deal you got this for! It's a shame the brush didn't work out so well, but at least it was free! I've never tried anything from Anastasia, but I also want to try their Dip Brow Pomade since that seems to be a lot of people's favorite.

  17. I haven't really looked into these, mainly because I'm trying to not tempt myself but Starlight looks amazing. I thought initially it would be a really stark white (like Becca Pearl) but I like that it has some warmth to it.

  25. I have been looking for a good highlighter to add to my collection because the one I have just doesn't add enough sparkle as I want. I might definitely try this one out now.
