Bored? Here Are 7 Thing You Can Do to Improve Your Blog

Hello everyone! It has been quite a while since I've done a blogging tips post! I've been in summer vacation mode the past few months, since I haven't been able to find a job this summer (thank you college degree!), so I've been spending a lot of time working on my blog. I've been trying to keep myself busy outside of the house, but there have been many lazy days I've spent working on my blog. If you're bored, like me here are 7 tips/things I've done to help improve my blog.

Retake photos

This is probably my #1 tip! Before people even begin to read your blog they are going to be looking at your photos, so make sure they're worth looking at! I know for myself personally, my blog photography is always improving. So pictures I used in a post last year, are not the same quality as the photos in my most recent posts. What I like to do it go back through my posts and make a list of the posts/items I need to retake. When I have an afternoon free I'll retake the pictures, edit them, and update the original post.

Fix up old posts

Now that your photos are up to date, it might be a good idea to read through and edit some old posts. I always go back and reread old posts and find grammar mistakes I would like to fix. You might also have links in your posts that are broken or outdated, so fixing those can really help improve the post for anyone who might read it in the future.

Find new blogs to follow

I love finding new blogs to read! The internet is filled with so many amazing blogs from all over the world. I can spend hours on Bloglovin searching new blogs and reading new posts. By reading, following, and engaging with other bloggers, you are expanding your audience, and you're also increasing your blog connections.

Comment on other blogs

Similar to finding new blogs, spend some time reading and commenting on other blogs. When I'm bored, I find reading other blogs and spending the time to leave thoughtful comments can fill up a lot of time. When you comment on other blogs you are encouraging and supporting other bloggers, but also expanding your audience and learning new things.

Promote old posts

After you publish a blog post, don't make it the last time someone sees it! By promoting your old blog posts on Twitter, Instagram or any other form of social media, you will get more traffic and increase your readers and followers.

I love using apps like Buffer and Tweetdeck to promote old posts. I set up five-ten tweets a day so I can recycle all of my old posts. I have a running list on Evernote of all my posts with links and make sure they all get a fair share of being promoted. I also repin my old pictures on Pinterest so it can continue to get clicks and attention.

Find a new layout

Before my current layout, I had a premade layout that didn't have everything I wanted for my blog. So one day I was bored searching on Etsy and found the perfect layout! I think it's super important to invest some money (not a lot, my layout was around $10) into a clean, simple layout for your blog. You want your blog to be easy to read and navigate so your readers will want to come back.

But, if you are happy with your layout and/or don't feel like investing in a layout, I did a post with 10 blogger tutorials to spice up your blog. Sometimes you don't have to change your entire layout, rather, you can make some minor tweaks that can really help improve your blog.

Create a list of post ideas

If you're really bored, you can create a list of posts you want to do in the future. Sometimes we get writers block and coming up with posts ideas can be hard. I created a post a while back with 70 beauty post ideas if you want to take a look. But posts like these are all over Pinterest and are great to take a look at when you're out of ideas.
