Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip in 'Fairy Floss' and 'Tight Fit' | Review + Swatches

Hello! I am back today to review the new Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lips (AKA lipglosses). Colourpop as a brand has been making a huge presence in the makeup community for the past year or so, and are constantly coming out with new products. Their products are so amazing and affordable that I always try to pick up some things when they release new products. I mentioned these new lip glosses on my Instagram when I first got the package in the mail- I couldn't contain my excitement! I've been trying these two shades for a week or so and I think I can safely say that I can give my thoughts.

Among the many beautiful shades Colourpop released with these new glosses, I got the shades 'Fairy Floss' and 'Tight Fit'. I was very nervous when I purchased 'Tight Fit' because this is a metallic finish gloss, and I have never tried any metallic lip products before. I know that metallics are the newest lip trend, but to me it never seemed wearable, and something I would never buy. But for $6, 'Tight Fit' looked really pretty, so I decided to have some fun and give it a try.

To start off with the generalizations of both of these products, they both come in a sleek tube with a silver cap, which is typical for Colourpop's lip products. One thing I like about these glosses, and I'm sure many people will too, is that there is no scent. Yup, they taste and smell like nothing. I don't really mind when my lip products have some kind of vanilla scent, but I think having no scent is a lot better than having a scent that people could hate. The applicator of these are a doe-foot, so it's really easy to apply. Personally, I hate when lip products have brushes as an applicator, the doe-foot is so much easier to use.

Lastly, what I like about both of these glosses is that they are not sticky. YAY! They glide on very nicely and do not leave a tacky or sticky feeling. They feel comfortable to wear for hours, and layer very nicely on top of other products.

When I saw the shade 'Fairy Floss', I knew it was the perfect shade for me. It is a sheer pink-nude finish, which I've been loving to wear alone or on top of other lip products. To be honest, when I wear it alone it doesn't show much color on my lips, but it leaves my lips looking nice and glossy. But when I wear a lip liner and or lipstick underneath, 'Fairy Floss' softens the color.

'Tight Fit', in my opinion, is a very unique shade. It is a metallic finish, with a pink/peach undertone, and gold and silver flex of glitter. When I apply this to my lips you really see the metallic finish, it definitely is not necessary to wear it over any other lip product. This shade does still scare me, and would only really use it when I'm going out- definitely not a work or school appropriate color.

The one thing that really bothered me about 'Tight Fit' is that when I went to wipe away the product, flex of glitter remained on my lips, and some even traveled around my chin and on top of my lip. This might not bother some people, but for me, I would rather not have glitter dots on my face. But, when the lip gloss is on your lips you don't feel the grittiness or the texture of the glitter.

My overall thought of these glosses is that they are really great, especially for $6. They have a nice range of colors and finishes, so I think everyone can find something. I loved the sheer formula of 'Fairy Floss' and I would love to try some of the creme finishes. As for 'Tight Fit' and the metallic finish in general, it is not something I would buy again. I love the color but I don't like that the glitter travels around my mouth, and it's not a very wearable color for me.

  1. Both of these shades look fabulous. I haven't purchased anything from colourpop in a while. I had a bad experience with the liquid lipsticks that I haven't tried anything else after. I would like to give these a chance though.
