Juvia's Place "The Nubian" Palette | Review + Swatches | Is It Worth the Hype?

Juvia's Place "The Nubian" Palette | Review + Swatches | Is It Worth the Hype?
If there is one problem I have with makeup, it's that I own too many eyeshadow palettes. To me, palettes are just so convenient because they have so many colors and options to create different looks. A newer makeup brand on the market that I've been seeing recently is Juvia's Place. I went to IMATS NY earlier this year and took a look at their products. I picked up one palette, The Nubian Palette, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you, and if this new brand is really worth the hype.

Starting off with the price range, their palettes are all around $30. The Nubian Palette is a little smaller than their other palettes, so it's normally $28, and they always have deals to get it for cheaper, and I got mine for $20. All of their palettes come in cardboard packaging and does not contain a mirror.

When I was looking at their palette selection, I noticed that all their palettes contained bright and vibrant shadows. That is very much not my speed, but The Nubian Palette was the most neutral palette they make.

The Nubian Palette contains eight shimmer and four matte shades for transitioning. The one thing this palette is missing for me is a white/cream matte shade for the brow bone or to set the entire lid. The shades in this palette tend to range more on the warmer side. Within the eight shimmers, there are are a couple of shades that are truly metallic/foiled shadows, like the light pink and dark bronze. In this palette, there is a nice range of matte browns, golds, bronzes and light pinks.

As for the texture, I love the formula of these shadows. I find that they are all very pigmented and blend nicely. The only problem I have is with the super shimmery shades I mentioned earlier. I find that these shades are too creamy, and are best applied with your finger. I find the fallout to be minimal, but I still recommend doing your eyes first so you can wipe away any fallout.

Overall, if you love warm-neutral eyeshadows, this is the perfect palette for you. I think the price for this palette is mid-range when it comes down to deals and shipping. However, if you really love colorful and fun palettes, this might be a great brand for you to check out. They have a decent selection of large colorful palettes for great prices.

  6. This kind of palette is definitely what I would pick from Juvia's Place, too! I think their products are designed for women of color which is why the shadows are often colorful and super pigmented x
