Best Beauty Buys of 2017 (So Far)

Best Beauty Buys of 2017 (So Far) Colourpop Shadows Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Lipgloss in 'Sugar Sugar' Urban Decay Velvetizer Mix-In Medium Benefit Hoola Lite Matte Bronzing Powder L'oreal Lash Paradise Mascara Wet N' Wild Photo Focus Foundation Morphe Flawless Beauty Sponge

We are more than halfway through 2017, and I have made an unnecessary amount of makeup purchases this year. I don't know why, but I feel like the makeup world has been on fire with new releases this year, and so many amazing new products have come out this year. With all the new releases, I wanted to share some of my favorite new purchases so far this year. Make sure to let me know in the comments what your favorite product releases are your favorite from 2017, so far!

This one should be obvious, but my favorite eyeshadows this year has been the Colourpop Shadows. I recently did a full in-depth post on the Colourpop empty palette and swatches of eventeen of their pressed shadows. I also talk a lot about these on Instagram, because hello! The palette is adorable! But in a nutshell, these are amazing shadows because they are so pigmented and blend beautifully, and they have an amazing range of shades. Best part? They are only $5 each, and the empty palettes make it easy to create your perfect palette.

Another eyeshadow palette I have been loving is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. Everyone in the beauty world has been raving about this, so I'm sure you know all about it. At first, I was skeptical to purchase it, but I'm so happy I did! This palette is unlike anything I own, and the formula of these shadows are phenomenal. I also love the packaging and the double ended brush it comes with. Anastasia also just released the new Subculture palette so I may have to pick that up next!

For a lip product, my go-to has been the Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Lipgloss in 'Sugar Sugar'. I bought this because Jaclyn Hill raved about it, and I totally understand. I use this lip gloss all the time because it's the perfect pinky-nude to wear alone, or over other lip products. It smells good and isn't too sticky- it's basically the perfect formula.

A newer release this year is the Urban Decay Velvetizer Mix-In Medium. Stayed tuned for a full review on this, but essentially this is a very fine loose powder that can be mixed into foundations to make it matte, or topped over foundation or create a flawless look. I personally love it for setting my makeup. It instantly removes all the imperfections on my skin, makes my skin feel super soft, and keeps me matte all day- what could be any better?

The Benefit Hoola Lite Matte Bronzing Powder is a matte bronzing powder which works well for those of us with lighter skin. Personally, this is too light for me to contour with, but I love this for bronzing up the face and adding a little more bronze to my makeup.

For mascara, my favorite new mascara this year is the L'oreal Lash Paradise Mascara. I recently did a post where I talked about this is a dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. The L'oreal mascara is great because it volumizes and keeps a curl. When I use this my lashes look long and fluffy, and almost like I'm wearing falsies.

For a foundation, this might be a surprise but I have been loving the Wet N' Wild Photo Focus Foundation. For $6 this foundation has been my go-to. Wet N' Wild did an amazing job with this foundation because the coverage is great, it lasts all day, and it can work for all skin types. Stay tuned for a full review!

My last favorite beauty release is the Morphe Flawless Beauty Sponge. I'm actually not 100% sure if this was released in 2017, but this item is new to me this year, and it has become my favorite sponge. I did a post comparing different beauty sponges, and this one is my favorite (it even beats my beauty blender!). I find this is a little stiffer than the beauty blender, but still soft and blends in my liquid products beautifully.

So, those are all of my favorite beauty releases from 2017 (so far!). With it only being August, I know there is still a lot more coming this year. My wallet may be crying, but I'm excited to see what will come next!

What are your favorite beauty buys of 2017 so far?

  1. I've been really skeptical about the Modern Renaissance palette as well (mainly because of all the hype around it) so it's nice to hear that you were like that too and then ended up really liking it!

  15. It's great to look back and reflect on what has and hasn't worked for you.
My best find of 2017 is the Laura Mercier Powder! It's not too flat and adds a super subtle 'lit from within' look.

  17. I didn't know about the Morphe beauty blender, wow it must be pretty good to top the original (will check it out now). I really want to try some things from Colourpop, I have a feeling I'll like them. Most of my purchases this year have been skincare really, I picked up the freedom priming water on a whim but I really like it x
