Current Beauty Tryouts #4 | Lorac POREfection Foundation and Primer*

Current Beauty Tryouts #4 | Lorac POREfection Foundation and Primer Review | Lorac POREfection Mattifying Primer Lorac Porefection Foundation Lorac Sheer POREfection Foundation
I have an exciting post to share today! If you've been reading my blog then you know that Lorac makes my favorite eyeshadows. I love their Pro palettes and their Unzipped palettes are amazing! However, I never tried any of their face products, and when Lorac offered to send me a package, I instantly knew that I had to try out their foundations and primers. Today, I will be talking about three of their face products: POREfection Mattifying Primer*, POREfection Foundation* and Sheer POREfection Foundation*. Like many of my "currently trying" posts, this is more of a first impression after using the product for a week or two, and my thoughts can change after using a product like these for a couple of months.

POREfection Mattifying Primer*

Starting with the base products, I'm always interested in trying primers that are targeted for oily skin- so products that say "mattifying" or "pore-minimzing." The POREfection Mattifying Primer* is a clear product and I would say that is definitely a silicone primer.

According to Ulta's website:
Prime, prep and perfect with POREfection Mattifying Face Primer. This oil, fragrance and paraben-free primer is infused with salicylic acid and antioxidants of vitamins A, C and E to help skin appear healthy, youthful and radiant. The skin-perfecting formula helps to minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines for a silky-smooth, poreless-looking, matte finish. Get long-lasting makeup wear and achieve complexion POREfection with LORAC! Suitable for all skin types.
When applied to the skin, this does have a slippery feel to it and can feel a little greasy going on to the skin. However, I find that this does mattify my skin and create a nice layer for my foundation. Since it is a silicone primer, it creates a smooth and even base for my makeup. I also really liked this because it contains salicylic acid which is great for acne.

In terms of longevity, I find that this does prolong the wear of my makeup and keep my makeup matte all day. I think that this primer is perfect for people with oily/combo skin because it mattifies the skin without drying out your skin. It creates a nice even and smooth base for any foundation and face products you might be using.

POREfection Foundation*

On to the first foundation! Starting off with the POREfection Foundation*, this is a medium-full coverage foundation.

According to Ulta's website:
Perfect and protect with POREfection Foundation. This oil, paraben and fragrance free formula is infused with anti-aging antioxidants of vitamins A & E, olive leaf extract, lemon fruit extract and papaya fruit extract to help soothe, nourish and rejuvenate while SPF 20 provides protection from UVA/UVB rays to help keep skin healthy, youthful and radiant. Get a poreless-looking, silky-smooth finish and achieve complexion POREfection with LORAC.
Starting off with the things I love about this foundation is the packaging (it has a pump!), it has SPF 20 which makes it perfect for every day, and it works for all skin types. I have oily skin, and when applied to the skin, I find that this has a satin finish. After using my regular powders, I was able to achieve a matte look, and it stayed like that all day. Also, its name is POREfection Foundation, and for someone with large pores, with the primer and this foundation, my pores were nearly invisible and it stayed like that all day. I also find that this doesn't have a scent, so that works for sensitive skin.  As for the consistency, I find that this has the texture of a "normal foundation." By that I mean it's not too thick or thin, but when applied to the back of your hand is doesn't move around.

The only thing I didn't like about this foundation is the shade range. I have the shade PR1-Fair, which well for my skin tone, but those who are lighter than me, or have a different undertone, may feel differently. There are 10 shades of this foundation, but there is not a large range so it may be difficult for some people to find a perfect shade match.

Sheer POREfection Foundation*

I have been loving this foundation this summer! The Sheer POREfection Foundation* according to Ulta's website is described as:
This oil, paraben and fragrance free makeup is infused with anti-aging antioxidants of vitamins A & E, olive leaf extract, lemon fruit extract and papaya fruit extract to help soothe, nourish and rejuvenate. The lightweight formula helps keep skin healthy, youthful and radiant with a clean, better-than-natural, no-makeup look and feel. Get a poreless-looking, silky-smooth finish and achieve complexion POREfection with Lorac.
For the summer I am loving wearing less makeup and this foundation has been perfect to achieve that look. Even in its name, this is a sheer foundation and is sheer to medium coverage. This foundation has a water-thinner consistency. When I apply this, I find it covers all my redness and give my skin an even color, but still have my freckles and skin show through so it looks very natural.

Similar to the POREfection Foundation, this has no scent, which works for sensitive skin, and helps minimize and hide my pores. Also, there is a limited shade range in this foundation, and I use the lightest shade which is PS1 Fair.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I have really been enjoying these foundations and primer from Lorac! The POREfection Mattifying Primer* has been a great everyday primer because it creates an even and smooth base for my makeup (and it works for all skin types!). The POREfection Foundation* has been a nice foundation for days when I want a fuller coverage look, and the Sheer POREfection Foundation* has been a nice foundation to give me some coverage on warmer days when I don't want a heavy makeup look. However, for the foundations, I wish they had a larger shade range. But, both of these foundations work for all skin types and have ingredients that are good for your skin.
