Two Tools That Will Transform Your Brush Cleaning Routine | Featuring The Brush Bar and The Brush Bar
As a beauty blogger and a makeup lover, I have a large collection of brushes. I have many different brands, ranging from drugstore to high-end, and no matter the type of brush, all of them need to be cleaned. I don't know about you, but I get extremely lazy when it comes to cleaning my brushes, and I can go weeks at a time without washing them. But I was recently given the chance to try The Brush Bar*, which makes two products that will make it easier and faster to clean your brushes. The CEO and Co-Founder, Mengju, reached out to me and offered to send me these products to try. I've never heard of the brand, but I was excited to test it out.

What is The Brush Bar?

The Brush Bar* is a brand based in San Jose, CA. They make two products, which were both sent to me. The first is The Brush Board* ($28), which is for cleaning your brushes, and The Brush Bar* ($38), which is a tool to help you dry your brushes. I love how both of these products come with their own velour carrying pouch to protect your products. Keep reading if you want to find out how these products work and make your brush cleaning routine a breeze!

The Brush Board

Since I've received The Brush Board*, cleaning my brushes has been super easy. This is essentially a plastic double sided board with three sets of ridges on each side, and the website describes it as a "brush exfoliator."

According to The Brush Bar's website:
Made of firm material for maximum cleaning power
Water-pooling sections that cup water for a lasting lather
6 different textures to scrub between and around the bristles
For the most effective clean, apply a brush cleanser and a splash of water before gently swirling brushes back and forth along the board’s surface.
Can easily be cleaned by running it under warm water and laying out to dry
Keeps hands clean and dry as you wash your brushes
Comes with its own velour carrying case
To use this you basically wet your brush, put some cleanser on the bar, and move your brush back and forth it clean it. I have really enjoyed all the different ridges and textures on this board because I feel like it is able to clean my brushes well. Each of the sections on the board has different purposes. For example, the cylinders are meant for a gentle clean, while the pyramids are meant for a more intense cleaning.  I don't use any special brush shampoo, just some baby shampoo, and I find that cleans out all the makeup and conditions my brushes.

The Brush Bar

The product I was most excited to try was The Brush Bar* because I've never heard or tried anything like it. Essentially. this is a brush drying tool that you can hang off of any surface to allow your brushes to dry upside down. Basically, this opens up to reveal 10 prongs which you flip outwards and close the tops again so the prongs are sticking out. It has prongs of different sizes which is meant to fit different brushes. You put The Brush Bar* on any surface, like a sink or table, and you put the brushes in between the prongs. The tips of the prongs are covered in rubber so it helps the brushes stay and not slip out. You are also meant to hang your brushes down so the bristles are facing the floor. This way, the bristles can dry down and the water won't damage the glue in the brush handles.

According to The Brush Bar's website:
Innovative design fastens brushes with bristles pointing down so they keep their shape, last longer, and dry faster
Its 10 prongs in 3 sizes (2 small, 6 medium, 2 large) hold brushes of any brand, any size
Sleek, compact design is space-saving and travel-friendly
Comes with its own velour carrying case
The first thing I noticed about this is how heavy and luxurious it feels, and because of this, this can be put on any surface so the brushes can hang properly. I also found that it was easy to use, and the brushes easily hang off the prongs without slipping. Just don't make the mistake I made and put the wrong size brushes in the prong.

In the picture below I wanted to show you that basically, any brand or brush size can fit in these prongs. The only downside to this is that there are only 10 prongs, and I have wayyy more than 10 brushes.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I have really been enjoying The Brush Board* and The Brush Bar*. Both of these products are simple to use and have made cleaning my brushes not only more fun but much easier (however, I still get lazy)! If you're looking for new brush cleaning products, I highly recommend trying The Brush Bar* products.

However, the price can be a turn off for some people. Both of these products can cost you $66, which is a little steep for brush care products (for me personally). But I do believe that these products are an investment, and feel like they are great quality and will last you a very long time. It's also nice that they offer some packages so you can get more bang for your buck. For example, they have a set for $68 which comes with The Brush Board*The Brush Bar* and The Brush Bubbly.

Thank you again to Mengju and the entire The Brush Bar team for sending me these products to try! If you're interested in trying The Brush Bar products, you can use the code MAKEUPFEED15 TO receive 15% off your first purchase on The Brush Bar website (I do not receive a commission if you use this code, this is just for you to receive a discount on your first purchase).
