Fall Skincare Routine | Feat. Clarisonic Mia 1*

Hello everyone! We are in the full swing of fall, and I wanted to share with you my current skincare routine. The biggest change I've made to my routine is that I started using the Clarisonic Mia 1 ($129 USD)*. I was lucky enough to have Her Campus Media and Clarisonic send me this device and various accessories (brush heads and cleanser) to try. I received the Mia 1 Device with Radiance Brush Head*Pore & Blemish Gel* Cleanser* ($18), Deep Pore Brush Head* ($27) and Acne Brush Head* ($27). My skin has been amazing since I started using this device and accessories, and I wanted to share my thoughts and experience so far.

What is the Clarisonic Mia 1?

Clarisonic Mia 1 is the perfect introduction to sonic cleansing for cleaner, more radiant skin. This facial skin cleansing brush features one speed that's suitable for all skin types. Like all our devices, it's waterproof and provides sonic cleansing that cleans skin six times better than hands alone. The bristles of a Clarisonic cleansing brush head move back and forth, or "oscillate", gently flexing the skin and flushing water and cleanser into pores. This sonic cleansing process removes the dirt, oil and debris that ages your skin and causes breakouts. Because Clarisonic facial cleansing devices don't exfoliate – a common myth! – Clarisonic is gentle enough for twice-daily use, even on the most sensitive skin.

How I Use It

I use my device with the Deep Pore Brush Head* two times a day. The Deep Pore Brush Head* is perfect for those with large pores and it has dual-action bristles to help flush and dislodge oil and debris that clogs pores. In the morning I use the Clarisonic with the Clinique Liquid Facial Soap, for Oily to Combination Skin. This face wash is light and fragrance-free, and it really cleanses my skin from all dirt and oil.

In the evening, I use the Pore & Blemish Gel*, which removes impurities and controls shine, leaving skin feeling supple and beautifully clean. It's paraben-free, soap-free and dermatologist tested.
The formula contains 2% Salicylic Acid to fight acne breakouts, as well as micro-exfoliating Lipo Hydroxy Acid to gently provide precise cell-by-cell removal of debris and dirt.
According to Clarisonic's instruction, this is how I use the device:
1.      I wet my skin and brush with warm water (I even use it in the shower)
2.      I liberally apply cleanser to the brush head.
3.     I press the button on the device
4.      I gently move the brush head in small circular motions, beginning on the forehead, then moving to the nose/chin area and the cheeks.
5.      The device automatically shuts off after one minute.

How My Skin has Changed

My skin before using this device had a lot of redness, some acne scarring, and some small pimples. I also have oily skin and I consider it to be sensitive. When initially using this device, I noticed how soft my skin felt after using it. As I continued to use it, I noticed my smaller pimples going away. But, a few days into using it, I got some more pimples. I did some research and found out that after starting to use this device and system, your skin can go through a purge where you get some acne, but that goes away after continuing to use the device. My skin is currently still in that phase, but it's expected to go away. But, my skin does feel super soft and I noticed that my acne scarring has slowly been disappearing. Also, I have oily skin, but after using this system with the face washes, my skin has been less oily. Another thing I noticed, is that because my skin is so soft and clear, my makeup applies much smoother and stays on longer.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am very pleased with Clarisonic Mia 1*. As someone who has always been lazy with my skincare routine, this device makes it easy and manageable to take care of my skin. Even though my skin is currently going through the purge phase, I'm already noticing my acne scarring disappearing, my skin is less oily and my makeup applies and looks better. This system can be an investment, but it is a unique and healthy system for your skin.
